In this Key Learning Area students develop knowledge, understandings, values and skills about the English language and literature. Students learn how to use language effectively and critically reflect on how language works for communication, knowledge and enjoyment.
Developing proficiency in English enables students to take their place as confident communicators, critical and imaginative thinkers, lifelong learners and informed, active participants in Australian society.
The Key Learning Area of English is organised into three strands in accordance with the NSW Board of Studies:
- Speaking and Listening
- Reading which includes viewing
- Writing includes; spelling, handwriting, grammar & punctuation and use of technology.
We provide a varied curriculum that caters for the individual needs of each student. Consistent assessment data analysis from teachers provides valuable information to continually develop student learning from their point of need in all three strands.
